JOB DESCRIPTION: NIGHTLIFE TECHNICIAN

Part-time, freelance contract, with an expectation of a 10 hours per week commitment, £15 per hour.

The Nightlife Technician will assist the Senior Venue technician in delivering The Yard’s programme of late-night events. This will include setting up any equipment before an event, working with the artists or promoters to prepare for the event, and troubleshooting any issues which may come up during performances or DJ sets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Set up the event space, supporting the bar duty manager with the crossover from theatre performances into late-night events.
- Set up any technical equipment for the event, as specified by the promoter in advance.
- Complete sound checks.
- Set up and support with the operating of lighting.
- Liaise with the artists and promoters throughout the shift.
- Monitor sound levels throughout the event and record hourly
- Attending weekly events and meetings where needed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
- Experience running the tech in club environments.
- Experience liaising with artists or promoters.
- A strong understanding of QLab4+5 (sound and video).
- A knowledge of sound systems, including DJ setups.
- Experience in the rigging and focusing of lighting in an event environment.

Desirable
- General knowledge of Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment.
- Knowledge of how to programme and operate on an ETC ION.

JOB DESCRIPTION: CASUAL TECHNICIAN

This is a freelance role paid at £15 per hour.

The Casual Technicians will assist the Senior Venue technician in the delivery of The Yard's programme in its theatre and bar spaces. This may include equipment maintenance, rigging, and preparing the venue for an incoming show or event, amongst other duties. We require casual technicians to do shifts as a Duty Technician.

This means you are the sole technical staff member on-site during a performance or event, performing pre-show checks, supporting the artists or stage management team to set up, and troubleshooting minor issues if they come up.
