Inside the Company
Proper was founded by Cassandra Stavrou and Ryan Kohn in 2011, two 25-year-old entrepreneurs who set out to create snacks that didn’t compromise on taste or health.
The first batch of Propercorn was made by Cassandra, using a cement mixer to tumble popcorn in her homemade seasonings. 11 years on, Proper is now a team of 40 in London, with a further 200 makers who create their snacks in their ‘Snacktory’ in Nuneaton.

Mission and Values
Proper aspires to create snacks that are better for people, better for the planet and that taste great. The company was founded on the belief that any challenge can be solved with creativity, and by thinking differently.
The team at Proper acknowledge that while snacks might be a small thing, they’re a small thing that millions turn to every day. Because of this, Proper strives to make every encounter with the brand as positive, playful and satisfying as possible. The company obsesses over the details, believing that the little things make all the difference.

Culture and Benefits
Proper believes that the workplace should align with your personal values. For them, that means building a business that prioritises people over profit, and which has a positive impact on its community, customers and team. It’s this commitment that earned Proper its B Corp certification and Creativepool’s ‘Best Brand to Work For’ award.
Keeping collaboration at the heart of the business, the team also make time to come together; at 1pm every day the lunch bell sounds (to the tune of George Michael’s Careless Whisper), inviting everyone to enjoy a meal cooked by their chef, Ed.

In addition to being the fastest-growing healthier snack brand in the UK, Proper believes that its supportive and dynamic culture enables entry-level talent to grow within the business.
Its very own creative director joined the business almost nine years ago straight out of university, while their junior designer landed a full-time job off the back of a marketing internship.
Proper offers paid internships in their marketing and creative departments, and you can also get involved in ‘Snack Dates,’ a chance to spend 30 minutes picking the brains of creatives and designers in the business.
