Doubling Disability: Disability 101- Online Diversity Training
Creative Diversity Network
Do you want to feel more confident talking about disability? Want to learn how to make your environment more accessible? We can give you some tools to help.
Disability 101 is for everyone in the screen industries who wants an introduction to disability and inclusion. You’ll learn about the current state of disability representation based on our Diamond data, learn a simple model to improve access at work, and have a chance to apply it within this one-hour workshop.
This is an interactive workshop and we encourage active participation. Please have your video on and be willing to contribute if you can.
All dates have Otter.ai captions as standard.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Define what is meant by the term ‘disability’
- Identify different types of disabilities
- Explain what is meant by the term ‘disability inclusion'
- Explain how the TV industry is performing at disability inclusion
- Explain what is meant by the Social Model of Disability
About the Creative Diversity Network
This module was designed by CDN and is delivered by our Trainers who completed the Doubling Disability Train the Trainer course.
CDN exists to enable the UK Broadcasting industry to increase diversity and inspire inclusion. We work with our members towards a broadcasting industry with equality at its core monitored through the world's first industry-wide data collection system, Diamond. Only 4.5% of those working off-screen in the UK television industry identify as disabled compared to 17% of working people in the UK which is why we run the Doubling Disability project, providing disability inclusion training to the industry. Join us in Doubling Disability by attending some of our training courses and keeping up to date with Diamond.
