Communications Officer
Norfolk & Norwich Festival
The Communications Officer is a vital part of the Communications and Development team, playing a crucial role in developing and delivering year-round communications and fundraising campaigns, for the Festival each May and our year-round work in schools and with communities. The post holder needs strong content creation skills (particularly in video and photography), communication and administration skills, as well as a good understanding of marketing and development for the arts.
Main Duties
1. Work collaboratively with the Communications Officer (Social Media) and others to develop rich and varied content that reflects the organisation's work, and tone of voice and successfully engages target audiences, and funders and builds relationships with external stakeholders to enhance the organisation’s visibility through online content.
2.
Lead on
generation of high-quality visually engaging and relevant film and
photography content including event coverage,
promotional videos, interviews and project documentation.
3. Lead on editing of supplied film and photography content to ensure it meets professional standards and aligns with the organisation’s branding and messaging.
4. Lead on the sourcing of marketing and communications copy, film, photography and content from festival artists and agents, ensuring all material is received in good time.
5.
Generate
additional content for the organisation’s channels as required including writing
and commissioning blogs, creation or commissioning
of audio brochures and podcasts.
6.
Manage the
commissioning and coordination of additional photography, and videography services
for the organisation.
7.
Develop the
organisation's use of video-sharing platforms.
8.
Support the
delivery of the organisation’s social media communications ensuring an active and
engaging presence across all its
channels.
9.
Create,
commission, source and edit supplied copy for organisational website, e-mail
campaigns or publications.
10.
Assist the
Marketing & Box Officer Manager with the content and execution of marketing and
communication campaigns.
11.
Deliver and
develop the organisation's Young NNF scheme for 18-25 year olds.
12.
Become a
Spektrix ‘Super User’ and support the Box Office & Marketing Manager in
delivery of Box Office and ticketing function.
13.
Support the
Marketing & Box Officer Manager with website management including assisting
with Google Analytics.
14.
Respond to
enquiries from supporters and the public, such as handling general enquires and
collating responses to invitations
to events.
15.
Contribute to
Office Management including being part of the First Point of Contact group.
16.
Undertake
training as identified and agreed with the Head of Communication &
Development, which might include health and
safety, safeguarding and first aid training.
17.
Undertake any other
duties which might reasonably be deemed to be within the status of the job and
appropriate to the post.
18.
Carry out all
duties in accordance with appropriate internal and statutory procedures,
including our environmental policy.
19. Adhere to Norfolk & Norwich Festival’s employment policies and procedures with particular reference to Safeguarding Children and Adults at Risk, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
Person Specification
In short-listing and interviewing candidates, the panel will be looking for the following:
It is essential that the Communications Officer has:
· excellent content creation skills, particularly video and photography
· Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
· excellent verbal and written communication skills
· experience in marketing and development campaigns
· experience in website Content Management Systems
· experience in project management
· an interest in arts and culture (for example but not limited to music, performance, visual art, and circus)
It is desirable the Communications Officer has:
· experience in communications and development in an arts organisation
· experience of working with client management software (CRM) and/or ticketing systems
· experience in delivering social media content
