OPEN CALL: 3x Peckham Mural Commissions
Get It Done
Please see the full Open Call document here: https://www.getitdoneart.com/p...
Get It Done and Southwark Council are looking to commission three artists to produce three new murals down Peckham Rye Lane. The vision is to create meaningful, culturally resonant and timeless murals that capture the people that have shaped Peckham to be the place it is today. Each mural will centre around a different theme:
– Flavours of Rye Lane
– Live from the Rye
– Resistance & Resilience
Whether you’re a graffiti artist, typographic artist, abstract, print or collage artist, we encourage you to apply. Click here for the full brief and to find out how to apply.
We strongly encourage applications from people who are part of Peckham’s communities, and those less represented in the arts generally. Get It Done and Southwark Council can offer mentoring to local early-career artists to develop this project. If you feel like you do not have all the essential criteria and experience but a strong vision, we encourage you to still apply.
How To Apply
We would like to see your artistic style and proposed concept for your mural. A mock-up sketch is not required, but providing one may help our shortlisting panel better understand your vision.
Please send a PDF document that includes:
Artist statement and experience
Which mural theme you are applying for
A brief outline of your proposed concept, including the thinking behind it, any contextual research, and how it aligns with the commissioning theme
Why you are interested in this commission
Your connection to Peckham
Evidence and examples of similar work, including experience working with community groups and, if relevant, the design of public artwork (please include high-quality images and/ or links to support your proposal)
Any access requirements you may have in delivering this project
We are open to alternative forms of application – if another method is more accessible for you (video, phone call, etc.), please contact Mimi to discuss.
Please send completed applications to Mimi at [email protected]with your name and your chosen mural theme in the subject headline.
The deadline for proposals is 5pm on Sunday 17th November 2024. Late applications will not be accepted as the panel will be meeting the following day to shortlist artists.
