We are seeking a casting workshop assistant to carry out casting and finishing work.
Job Description
Porta Romana is an English company, based in Farnham, Surrey. Our brand is synonymous with luxury lighting and furniture, supplying many of the most prestigious hotel, yachts, and residential projects around the world. The Porta Romana team is around 100 employees, based either in Farnham or at our London showroom. All our product development, casting, decorative finishing, assembly, and wiring work is undertaken in-house, and we also work with many other skilled artisans around the UK and beyond, to create pieces for our collection.
We are seeking a Casting Workshop Assistant to carry out casting and finishing work. A new department for the business, we have acquired a highly trained team and are now looking to increase capacity. Training will be provided on the job. We will set expectations of work to be completed each week with regular reviews with your trainer and supervisor to give feedback on progress.
Position Summary
- Casting, finishing & colourisation of various cast products
- Mould Maintenance
- Data Gathering - Material Weights and Timings
- General workshop duties
- Keeping benches and walkways tidy at all times.
- Keeping tools clean and ready to use

Job Requirements
Key skills:
- Resin casting experience preferable, including resin pour casting, fibreglass work
- Familiarity with power tools such as Dremels, Sanders and Linishers.
- Be physically capable of regularly lifting casting moulds up to 20KG.
- Strong communicator with a positive proactive attitude
- Health and Safety awareness, though training will be given.
- Ability to adjust to different disciplines reflecting the company's work diversity.
- Work well alone, as well as being a good team player.
Job Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for hitting monthly and weekly target outputs. (PR Casting)
- Data Collection to systemise new work.
- Regular reporting of material stock levels.
- Reporting of faulty workshop machinery and maintenance.
- Complete schedule for signing in and out of materials to the workshop.
- Complete schedule for signing in and out of completed output from the workshop.
- Maintain efficient workspace and workshop environment.
