Miniature Drawing Workshop
Assemblage Collective
In this beginner-friendly drawing workshop for anyone aged 18-25, take inspiration from the Draper Miniatures at Kenwood House, to create your own miniature drawn portraits.
By exploring the collection of miniatures, we will discuss the significance of portable portraits of loved ones, comparing them to present day photographs and what they suggest about identity then and now.
Through drawing techniques using mechanical and watercolour pencils, participants will learn to adapt some of the techniques seen in the miniatures, producing their own personalised portrait miniature. Participants will be encouraged to draw from their own photographs so that you can create something truly personal to you.
Your facilitator:
Joshua von Uexkull is an artist with a background in painting, woodcarving, and classical and Academic drawing as well as contemporary approaches to drawing. He is currently studying for an MA in Fine art at City and Guilds School of Art.
