About Us
Grand Matter is a boutique artist agency co-founded by Ciara Phelan and Dorcas Brown. Our roster of distinctive illustrators and makers are chosen for their grand ideas and creative curiosity, and work across a wide range of projects around the world. We proactively support and nurture our artists throughout their commercial work and self-initiated projects alike.

We are looking for…
At Grand Matter we work closely with our artists to nurture their portfolio and creative ambitions, also championing purposeful and meaningful projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and super organised Studio Manager to join our small team, who shares our passion for illustration and the creative industry.

Our roster of 16 artists work across a range of multi-disciplinary practises, centred broadly around illustration. Some experience of the creative industry and a good understanding of creative processes, in particular illustration, is preferred.

Attention to detail and great written and verbal communication is central to the role, with a personable and open-minded approach. As a small company there will be the opportunity to shape the role and get involved in other aspects of the business as we grow.

What you will be doing…
You will be supporting the Grand Matter team across all aspects of the business. Tasks vary on a weekly basis, including:

  • Project support - assist with administration of Grand Matter led initiatives and projects
  • Finance - chasing invoices, liaising with our accountant and compiling receipts
  • PR & Marketing – helping maintain our social channels and assisting with promotion and events. Update our website, printed portfolios & social media channels
  • New business – researching potential new clients and assisting with outreach
  • General - helping in the studio with miscellaneous tasks and running errands
  • Editorial – writing short news posts, and opportunity to write longer form editorial pieces if this is of interest
  • Proactively staying up to date with industry news, and identifying and suggesting new artistic talent, and opportunity to write longer form editorial pieces if this is of interest

Working hours…

The position suits a freelancer who is able to commit to 1 full day per week, at our London Fields office, with the potential for occasional ad hoc days in addition, to be arranged in advance on a case by case basis. Our core hours are 10am - 6pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

How To Apply

Please send a CV and cover letter (maximum 175 words) to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Studio Manager’. Deadline for applications 26th May 2022.
