CAKE Productions is looking for a Development Intern

A fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge of the animation industry and children’s TV, gaining experience by participating in projects and supporting the development team as they take ideas from initiation through to pitching.

To provide logistical and coordination support to the Creative Development department, reporting to and working alongside the Head of Development.


  • Process and manage the incoming projects in a first responder capacity.
  • Manage and take ownership of the database of projects and associated materials on projects and maintain a system of notifications for key project events.
  • Manage and update the company’s database of studios, writers, creators, directors, showrunners, and other talent.
  • Assist with producing pitch and writer’s bibles and preparing materials for pitches.
  • Tracking project progress and pitches, ensuring all feedback and notes are delivered in time.
  • Where required, input on productions and development projects, and support the Development team in reviewing pitches.
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry news and content to circulate the main headlines in a weekly newsletter to the team.
  • Schedule and participate in regular screening meetings and research compelling content to watch.
  • Join creative meetings and take minutes.
  • Administrative support for the Development team (scheduling, travel arrangements, market preparation, research).
  • Coordination with other internal departments such as marketing, business affairs, sales, and production.
  • Assist in ad-hoc tasks as required.


  • Strong interest and passion for Children’s TV and animation.
  • Proven understanding of the creative, development and production process in animation, as well as script and story formats.
  • Possess good organisational and coordination skills.
  • Be familiar with specific necessary software – Excel, Word, Final Draft, Photoshop, Illustrator, GoogleDocs, etc.
  • Ability to work successfully both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Possess and apply a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Able to adopt a systematic and pro-active approach that will ensure task completion in order to meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to multi-task over multiple on-going projects, and able to define priorities.
  • Ability to think on your feet and react to situations and arising problems confidently whilst maintaining composure.
  • Demonstrating tact and diplomacy in all professional relationships.
