The Association of British Theatre Technicians seeks to recruit an Administrator in a full-time permanent post.

We are looking for an energetic and organised individual with experience of administration generally within an arts or membership organisation to co-ordinate ABTT’s activities and membership services.

Are you passionate about the theatre, outgoing, with excellent communication skills, and would you enjoy developing relationships within the industry? Are you someone who pays attention to detail? Are you self-motivated and feel comfortable working unsupervised?

The job entails:

  • Undertaking administrative tasks in support of the Association’s activities and services (communications, newsletters, training, publications and events);
  • Responding to member enquiries, new memberships and renewals;
  • Co-ordinating Council meetings, taking minutes and preparing papers;
  • Maintaining the membership and job database and ABTT archives;
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the ABTT Website and administrative systems,
  • Co-ordinating and creating monthly members’ e-newsletters and notices, and
  • Providing administrative support to the Events and Association Manager.


The ABTT operates without a dedicated office. The Association Administrator will work from home as their main place of work which must be healthy, safe, secure and private with a suitable internet connection. The Administrator’s main hours of work will be between 10:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. The Administrator will as part of their normal work on occasions attend meetings and events within Transport for London Zones 1, 2, 3 or 4. If the Administrator is required to attend locations outside these travel zones the cost of travel, accommodation and subsistence will be reimbursed.

The ABTT campaigns on behalf of the theatre industry to ensure legislation is appropriate to the industry’s needs, and that regulations are suitably drafted and enforced. The ABTT produces a Code of Practice for the Theatre Industry which is recognized by the HSE.
