Shillington's Diversity in Design Scholarship is an opportunity open to aspiring designers from underrepresented groups.
What do we mean by underrepresented groups? Applicants can self-identify in their application. May include but is not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes.

The Diversity in Design Full & Half Scholarships & Industry Mentorships, add to evolving efforts to support and strengthen equity by cultivating diverse and inclusive representation in the design industry—within our classrooms and beyond. We’re proud to partner with Bulletproof — a leader in the creative industry—for three full scholarships as a collaborative commitment by both educators and employers.
How To Apply
What’s required to apply?
1. Written submission. Answers to six questions:
- What do you currently do?
- Why do you want to study design?
- Why Shillington?
- What would be your dream job after graduating from Shillington?
- What impact would this scholarship have on your life and career?
- What’s your hidden talent?
2. Eligibility. Description of how you are eligible for the Diversity in Design scholarship
3. Creative submission. Show us what this design scholarship would mean to you. Two submission options:
- Video <2 minutes or PDF <5 pages.
- No physical submissions accepted.
4. NYC only—proof of high school diploma or GED.You can apply for both the Full Scholarship + Mentorship and the Half Scholarship within the same application form.Applications will be reviewed by Shillington staff, industry partners, and a Shillumni panel.
