Imagine what you could achieve with the free use of a studio. As well as free production advice, free lighting and free digital equipment to go with it. Plus the opportunity to feature your creation on our social media channels for five days.

Bad Star’s Community Studio Project is here to help you explore your creativity.

Whether you’re an aspiring photographer or artist, if you live locally, we could help you discover what you’re capable of.

As well as expressing yourself artistically, you could also be a part of a mutually supportive creative community with regular networking events.

If chosen to be part of our Community Studio Project, you’ll have access to:

We invest 5% of our profits in community-based initiatives. That includes educating, connecting and bringing people together.

Our full lighting and digital kit.

A five-day takeover (Mon–Fri) of our Instagram and Facebook social media platforms. With 1–2 posts a day.

Because as well as giving you the chance to explore your creativity, we’ll help you to showcase it – and the process that led up to it – in our digital shop windows. So your work could be discovered and shared by those in our network.

To give you enough time to get everything edited and in the best possible shape, this won’t happen until a month after your shoot.

And, of course, you can show your appreciation for any collaborators you might have by tagging them.

How To Apply

Every month, we’ll be opening the door of our studio to four lucky applicants.

Here’s how you could be one of them.
Apply before the 14th day of any month. Around two weeks later, we’ll let you know if you’ve been successful. If you have been, your studio day will happen during the second month after you made your application. (For example, applying before 14th Jan would mean you’d be shooting in March.)

Send us a pdf of your portfolio or a link to your website. Plus a brief description of your proposed shoot and a note about why you’d like to be a part of The Community Studio Project.
